Rules:

Stage Striking:

The rules on stage striking from the official Smashboards thread, modified for HASC tournaments:

1.      Players select their characters. Either player may choose to Blind Pick. In this case, each player secretly tells a third player their character before picking with the third player verifying their selections.

2.      Players play Rock-Paper-Scissors. Winner chooses between selecting controller port (Wii U) or first Stage Strike.

3.      Players take turns removing stages from the Starter Stages list below based upon the results of the previous rule. The first player to strike removes one(1) stage from the list, the second player removes two(2), and the match will be played on the remaining stage. If the remaining stage is final destination, the loser of Rock-Paper-Scissors picks either Final Destination or Omega Wii Fit Studio/Omega Pac-Land.

4.      The players play the first match of the set.

5.      Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage from the full list of stages, both Starter and Counterpick. Does not apply to Best of 5 sets.

6.      The losing player of the preceding match picks a stage for the next match. Cannot choose the stage banned in the previous step, nor a stage they've already won on during this set, unless agreed.

7.      The winning player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.

8.      The losing player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.

9.      The losing player of the preceding match may change their controller port (Wii U).

10.    The next match is played.

11.    Repeat Steps 5 through 10 for all subsequent matches until the set is complete.

Set Lengths:

All sets will be best 2/3 up until semi-finals. From there, all sets are best 3/5. If a match ends in a tie, a 3 minute, 1 stock match will be played with both players playing the same characters on the same stage they tied on.

Banned:
Custom equipment and movesets are banned with all characters including Miis. Guest Miis with default movesets and no custom equipment are still allowed.

**The Omega Stage Split Situation:

We split Final Destination into 2 separate stages since Final Destination is a floating stage, but walled omega stages can help certain characters recover. For the Wii U version, we use Final Destination (Floating Omega) and Omega Wii Fit Studio (Walled Omega). For the 3DS version, we use Final Destination (Floating Omega) and Omega Pac-Land (Walled Omega). If Final Destination is banned, Omega Wii Fit Studio/Omega Pac-Land is also banned.
